Today (Saturday) we went for our childbirth class at the hospital. The morning started off pretty well...despite the fact that I underestimated how long it would take me to dry my hair this morning with the big belly and all (normally I let it air dry overnight). We hit up the Chick-fil-A on the way and still managed to arrive early which is quite a feat for us.
There were only 4 couples in there this morning which was nice...made it small and personable. Out of the 4 we were the only ones having a girl (aren't we special). There was a LOT of information but we learned a good bit more than we already knew. We were also able to narrow down a more prepared birth plan. Later in the day we took a tour of Labor & Delivery and the Mother & Baby rooms. It made it all seem so real. For part of the class we went over breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. At one point we were watching this video and the coach (Daniel) was to mimick the video (the massage) while I was laying on the floor. The instructor had the lights out because we were supposed to be practicing relaxing and well I fell asleep LOL. I guess I was fully relaxed. Daniel woke me up when the video was over - I got a great little nap in the middle of class :) Daniel and I both really enjoyed the class and he feels more comfortable with his role. For lunch Daniel and I hit up the Macaroni Grill for some PASTA! It was delicious and very filling and then we were back to class. We covered everything from the stages of labor and the phases of stage 1 of labor. What we should expect in each stage, watched the actual births, etc. Then we covered drugs, c-sections, doulas, what to bring, and much much more.
I have to admit that the funniest part of the whole day was right before we went into class this morning and I mentioned to Daniel I had to go to the bathroom already. He chuckled and says, "I think this is going to be the first class I've ever been in where there are potty breaks every 15 minutes." Well it wasn't every 15 minutes but about every 30 LOL and yup I had to make a trip every time. McKenzie has taken to kicking my bladder and of course sitting for long periods of time doesn't help either. Which I don't know if I've mentioned this before now but last weekend I felt what feet in your ribs feels like for the first time. It's not so comfortable...and well she likes it up there.
After all day in class we did a little Targeting and then headed home to get ready for the GA game. GO DAWGS!

haha.I had forgotten about those potty breaks, but so funny.
I do want to get together. Last weekend our phone got water damage, and we don't have anyones numbers. Lets get together this week, give me a call, my schedule can work around yours, it's really flexible.
It all sounds so interesting. Just imagine having your first and not having any knowledge except what you can read in a little pamphlet that was not worth a darn. No one could be there with you and you are ignorant as dirt and scared not knowing what to expect.
Yup, times have sure changed in fifty years and for the better I might add.
Love you
