Darn Washing Machine!

So last Thursday night after I got home from work and we had finished dinner I put in a load of laundry. About a minute later I found a sweater I had forgotten to put in. So I went and paused then stopped the machine to add it. When I went to turn it back on...it started. That awful gnawing clicking noise of a washing machine not going to work. So I decided to test my patience and waited a few hours and tried again...no luck. The sad part was we were supposed to be leaving Friday morning to head to Fayetteville for the weekend...and welp ALL of my maternity clothes were in the machine. And yes you guessed it...they were all SOAKING wet! After Daniel unloaded the laundry into the bag and loaded it into the bag and we scrounged around for change for him to run to the laundry mat down the street at like 11:30. He gets down there and the machine only takes quarters so he runs to Kroger...at which point they won't give him quarters for our nickels and dimes but tells him he can use the coin machine. After dumping all of our change into the coin machine it prints out a little slip of paper saying to bring it back to customer service when it opens at 8 in the morning! AAAAAHHHHHHH! So after all that we get into bed and we're wide awake...probably from frustration. Why is it the washing machine always breaks when you really don't need it to? I guess that's life. Of course I call at 7 am Friday morning trying to get someone out to fix it and they can't come until Monday. And of course they give you a 4 hour window of when they'll be there and then they always come after the window ends. But thankfully Daniel was able to be at home when the technician came and it turns out he walked in...looked at it...goes "OH yeah...easy fix" flipped the arm, reset it and waaallaaaaa washing machine fixed. So after all that...it was just the little arm that got caught at just the right moment when I had stopped the machine. Thankfully that was all it was and nothing more. The technician was in and out in less than five minutes! After waiting all weekend, then all afternoon Monday, the washing machine was fixed. Good thing it was nothing because our warranty expired 2 days before...again...that's how it happens right?

What did I learn from all this:

1. Don't wash all your clothes at once

2. Never stop the washing machine once you've started it...no matter how much you want that sweater cleaned

3. Keep an ample stash of quarters around for "just in case" trips to the laundry mat

sometimes it seems like everything goes wrong at once. Glad it was easy to fix.
