Emailed along with picture: This little boy had a puncture wound in his abdomen and I stayed with him for about half an hour to keep him awake before he could get a flight out. He was one of 10 civilian casualties on a horrible day when the Taliban set off an IED in a local bazaar, targeting civilians.
I received this picture from one of my closest friends today. Her husband, Josh, is a Marine stationed in Afghanistan right now. Josh and I were friends in high school and worked together at Chick-fil-A. They have never met Daniel and I have only seen Josh once in over 5 years. Ah the life of our military men. Jasmine is very near and dear to my heart. We met our senior year in high school when she moved with her family from Michigan. I talked her into a job a Chick-fil-A ...do you see where this is going. Josh and Jasmine have been married for 6 years now and have two children: Liliana and LJ (LJ is 3 months older than McKenzie). Jasmine is one of the strongest women I know and an encouragement to me. Thankfully we get to see eachother generally once a year and we talk and email several times a week.
I think sometimes as military spouses we often wonder what our sacrifice is for? What exactly do we send our husbands off for months and years at a time for? Does it matter?
This picture reminded me what it was for today. For all those children and families threatened and tormented by the Taliban, by evil. Evil thrives when good men do nothing. I'm proud to say I married one of those good men, and his sacrifice as well as mine does matter. Thank you Josh for your service and we are praying for your safe return.
I am putting together a care package to send to Josh. If you would like to donate anything or write him a letter I'd love to put it in the box.
With Love,
M

Aw that picture really touched my heart. Yes people DO forget what our men are doing, and it makes me sad, especially when people come up to me to argue their political agenda when they find out my fiance is a Marine. Like I care?
Hello lovely! I found you through the milspouse hop. I love meeting new military wives!
Thank you for posting that picture! I think we all ask ourselves why they are still over there, fighting the fight. It's things like this, that makes us realize why.
My hubs is over there right now also. He's a Marine:) Sending hugs your way!
