My Daddy

I spent last week in Atlanta with my Dad at the hospital. He had a heart attack Saturday (August 30) after mowing the neighbor's lawn. Daniel and I drove up to see him on Sunday since he spent the weekend at Henry Medical and then headed home that night. After a heart catherization on Monday they discovered that his arteries were 76 - 100% blocked. I headed back up Monday night and met him at Crawford Long on tuesday morning before they took him back for surgery. I was nice and decided not to return the paycheck he so deserved for messing with me once I was drugged before open heart surgery 10 years ago. He underwent a quadruple bypass for about 6 hours...which the family spent together in the waiting room. I slept for a few hours and well let's face it...spent a good bit of time back and forth from the cafeteria and the potty :) We were able to see him shortly after he came out of surgery and he looked really good. His ICU room was much nicer than mine had been and much warmer too. Later that night he was moved to the ICU in the cardiac unit and then graduated to a regular room the next afternoon. He was feeling better after they removed all his tubes, oxygen and IV's. On Friday they let him go home. Daniel and I watched the GA game with him on Saturday and hey the man even got a comfy new leather recliner out of the deal. Thankfully he is ok and is recovering. There's a lot of rest, rehab and healthy eating on the road ahead. Love you Daddy!
